Professional Driver Sharpens Skills and Goes Back Over The Road
Barry Henegar is from Cleveland, TN and drove over the road for 12 years. He left driving professionally to raise his two sons. Now that the youngest will be graduating from high school this spring, he’s climbing back into the driver’s seat and is excited to get back on the road. He initially got into trucking because two men in his family drove over the road.
“My wife’s father and step-father both drove. When I rode around with them I knew I wanted to do it right then and there. I got hooked.”
Since he had been off the road for a while, Barry spent a week with one of Skyline’s over the road trainers as a part of our free grad program. It only took a week and he was ready to get back out there.
When he’s not driving, Barry loves fishing and golfing all over the southeast.
“I fish for crappie and I golf everywhere – Kentucky, Carolina’s, Georgia. Nothing better than golfing and fishing.”
While he says the hardest part about driving professionally is being away from home, he loves the freedom of the open road and wouldn’t trade it for any other job. Barry heads out this Sunday and we are so excited that he’s driving for Skyline. Best of luck Barry!
